A1 | One Leg Balance (floor)

A1 | One Leg Balance (floor)

This exercise is to help improve balance and proprioception (your awareness of your body in space). This is especially important after injury to prevent re-occurrence.

Demonstration and Instructions

Stand on the floor, take one foot off the ground and practice balancing. Key points: Make sure your body stays straight (dont lean your torso off to the side), keep your hips level, knee soft, and toes relaxed. Hold as long as you can without falling over. You can progress this by: Changing surface (eg matt, pillow, mattress), closing your eyes, changing your center of gravity (move your arms or other leg or try throwing and catching a ball to make it sport specific). 3 x 10sec to 60sec
