Australian Practising Dietitian

An Irish native, Orlaith is an accredited practicing Dietitian and a member of the Dietitian Association of Australia. Currently working full time as a Clinical Paediatric Dietitian in the Children’s Hospital at Westmead, Orlaith cares for oncology and neurology patients requiring nutritional support. Working with those most in need, Orlaith’s goal is to help make the lives of those children most in need as healthy as can be.

Orlaith has a passion for female athlete health and nutrition. She strives to create a world for women in sport where they feel they can achieve their performance goals whilst maintaining adequate fuel for their female physiological needs along the way.

Outside of work, Orlaith likes to achieve her own sporting goals: training for triathlons, marathons and swimming and hyrox events across Australia. Apart from keeping physically active and well nourished, Orlaith enjoys traveling and exploring new parts of the world she has not seen.

Orlaith obtained her joint Bachelors of Science degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetics from Technological University Dublin and Trinity College Dublin. Before heading down under, whilst working as a clinical dietitian in an acute hospital, Orlaith gained a postgraduate diploma in sports and exercise nutrition from Leeds Beckett University. This allowed Orlaith to register as a Sports Dietitian with the U.K’s Sports and Exercise Nutrition Register.

When Orlaith first moved to Australia, she gained experience working as a sports dietitian for Precision Athletica, Sydney Olympic Park. Orlaith worked closely with adult and youth athlete cohorts such as triathletes, swimmers, cyclists and gymnasts. Orlaith has continued to work part-time as a private Dietitian for the past three years, working 1:1 with clients and providing nutritional education sessions to various groups such as crossfit and run clubs.
