K4 | Single Leg Deadlift (BOSU)

K4 | Single Leg Deadlift (BOSU)

INSTRUCTION VIDEO

Deadlifting is a large compund movement which involves several core muscle groups working together. Core must be activated, glutes and lower back working with quads and hamstrings too. The deadlift teaches the spine to remain stable under large forces. By using a BOSU with this exercise, hip external rotators must work to prevent knee from rolling in and medial quads such as VMO have to work to maintain knee stability on an unsteady surface. A great exercise for training spinal stability, knee, hip and pelvic stability and with the BOSU, core stability too.

Instructions

Choose the correct weight of kettlebell. Stand onto the BOSU with one foot in the centre and other foot on the edge. Slightly bend the knee and transfer weight onto leg in the middle, keeping toe of other foot on the edge. By hinging at the hip, push torso forwards and bottom backwards, leaning kettlebell towards ground. Slowly return to starting position by reversing the movement, pushing hips forwards when you get to the top. Repeat up to 15 times.
