Nutritional Medicine takes an integrative science based, holistic approach on how nutrition impacts on an individuals health. A Nutritionist endeavours to understand and treat the cause of health conditions and looks at the relationship between diet/food and disease. They help individuals in changing their eating habits and reaching their goal using food, lifestyle and supplementation recommendations.

WHAT'S INVOLVED IN A CONSULTATION?

During this initial consultation we will cover:

Current exercise and activity patterns  Exercise and activity patterns

Prior to your first consultation we will you send a pre-consultation questionnaire and a food diary, ideally these should completed and returned prior to your appointment. This will allow more time to work on a individually tailored treatment plan for you. Please bring along any previous blood tests and list of medications and/or supplementations

Review consultations are usually 1-4 weeks after the initial appointment, where we will discuss your:

Private health fund rebates are available for health funds that cover nutrition. Health fund rebates for Nutrtition are available with most funds including NIB, AHM, Medibank private, CBHS, GU Health etc. You must be covered for Nutrition (not just dietetics) in your chosen extras package if you'd like to claim for appointments. Please note: Some funds claim they cover Nutrition services but actually only cover Dietetics. Examples include BUPA, HBA and HCF. If you're with any of these funds, services are not currently claimable. If your fund is not listed or you are unsure if you are covered for Nutrition services, we urge you to contact your fund directly.

George Agrotis - Nutritionist

Throughout his career, George has worked alongside naturopaths and general practitioners. He has an Advanced Diploma in Nutritional Medicine from the Australasian College of Natural Therapies and is registered with the Australian Traditional Medicine Society (ATMS).

“Nutrition is the science of food and the nutrients in that food and how the body uses them. This includes the nutritional stages of ingestion, digestion, absorption, metabolism, transport, storage and the excretion of these nutrients. It looks at the behavioural, environmental and psychological characteristics of eating and food.”
