Hi, My Dad had undergone a CABG surgery (Heart Bypass surgery) around 2 months ago. He was told to wear a support belt around his chest for 2 months. But, now he's feeling pain in the shoulder because of the belt he wore around his chest. Is there amny chance of tissue tear in his shoulder?

Hi Pralekh

It does depend on where exactly the chest support was and if it included the shoulder. Is the pain in his left shoulder or right shoulder? I doubt there is any tissue tearing, but there maybe some straining due to positioning of the arm. I suggest you see one of our Physio's to assess the shoulder, and if this is clear and pain is in the LEFT shoulder it is best to consult the Surgeon in to clear any chest pain referral into the shoulder.

Hi Tim,
Thanks for the reply.
Well, the belt he used to wear included only his chest. It was worn around the chest for providing stability and support.

No ,the pain is in his right shoulder.  As you recommended ,mmy dad consulted a surgeon. According to the surgeon, my dad has developed a web like thing in his shoulder which is causing him the pain and cant move his shoulders smoothly. The surgeon has given him an injection and suggested him some exercises. what do you think about this...
